WHAT TO DO ON LAST DAY OF VACATION.
It is Friday, 6:50 AM, and the children next to me -- my son, and nephew -- are still asleep. Can you feel my smile.
Most children are preparing for school here in Florida, and in New York where we are from, but not my sister or my kids. We are trying to figure out what to do this last day before we go back to New York and a new school year.
My fifteen year old niece said she just wanted to stay in and relax. My sister wants to treat us all to an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. My son, my nephew, and my six year old niece did not have a coherent thought more less an idea. Play with games is what I think I got from them. I dismissed that because, I have played games with them. It is not fun. Oh, it is not fun, well, for me, it is not fun.
My eight year old niece said she wanted to go to the pool. I am actually okay with that one. Of course I said to all that we should pack the day before so we could have one last great day of fun before we leave out Saturday.
I did not even pack yesterday. None of us have, and there are eleven of us.
Well, we may be inside for the day today.

Wow, emancipated at 16. I loved my parents, but if I knew about how I could do that when I was a child I would have done it. Sorry, but true. They were great. They were too great.
They always took in other kids, and I was the oldest so I had to do too much for others as if they were my children. I became burned out at 17 years old.
Of course you are ready to retire you have been working since you were a kid. My mother was the same. She started at 18 years old, and retired after working over 45 years in one hospital.
You are right about the nerdy things being material for my writing.
Nerdy is cool. LOL.
You have a great 2011, and beyond also, sister!!!
W.E. All of those "nerdy" things you have done, are writing material. I am so happy and thankful that you and your late life child have each other. That is all about god and LOVE! I started working very young and was emancipated at 16, at 51, I am really ready to retire, but I will Write the rest of my life. lord willing. I look forward to more of your cool stories.
I count my self nerdy too. Nerds know stuff!

I am sorry you been away since September, but I know how that is.
I had responded to several comments when I came back to the Hubpages, fully, in November.
I really love reading the comments.
I use to take Vacations that people would actually call nerdy. LOL.
In my twenties I visited 125th Street to soak in Harlem. I went to the libraries there and beamed. I bought books as gifts for my nieces and nephews, and gushed as I picked one for each of them. LOL.
Geez, my sister's right, I am a Nerd. LOL. I am too happy telling this story. LOL.
Also -- while on vacation -- I would spend three to four days with my nieces and nephews, and take them to the park, restuarants, and etc.
Yeah, I know those are things you're suppose to do on days off with kids. LOL. I was a workaholic at twenty-six years old.
I did double shifts all the time when I was younger ....
I loved it, but I was too tired to do anything else on my days off ....
Of all the plans I have had in life having a child late in life was not one of them. LOL. I love it!!!
With my son I think of education, musical instruments, -- Oh lord -- Zoos, and babysitters. LOL. Love him. LOL.
I want him to have all the great memories I can give him.
Thanks to my sister and her family his memories will include Disneyland.

Okay, I really do agree with you about my taking pictures with my son, and I do on my computer all the time. Still, I really do not worry about it when we are on our traveling trips. I should, but I do not.
I am going to make an effort to do this, because I really would like to see a picture of myself with my son in the future and remember our great time together.

I love pictures because they always bring back memories.You have some wonderful pics that was so nice of you to share.I always give the camera to someone else and have them take the family together photos.In years to come your son will wish he had more pictures of mom.Sometimes let them take the pictures and you would be amazed what they find fascinating.Mom getting up in the morning.Mom sleeping.Maybe the hotel lobby.But no matter what it can be so much fun.
So it sounds like a great trip from beginning to end.Thanks for sharing.It is so hard on the last day.When you know you have to pack and soon you will be heading home.There is nothing like spending time with family.
